Questions about Sun Path for film production.
What does Sun Path actually show?
True-north sun direction and elevation across the run of day at the production location, rather than only a sunrise and sunset time.
How is that different from sunrise and sunset times?
Sunrise and sunset tell you when the day opens and closes. Direction and elevation tell you where the light comes from and how high it sits while you are shooting, which is what decides a setup.
Does the Sun Path travel with the call sheet?
Yes. The solar plan is part of the document the crew receives.
What happens if I change the location address?
After changing the production address, review and recalculate the Sun Path before publishing. Check that its coordinates and shoot date match the intended location; do not rely on the previous calculation.
